Fez Marubelela,

Based in Johannesburg, South Africa

Fezile (Fez) began his career as a Senior Production Assistant at Deadtime TV, a vibrant in-house production facility for e-TV which was awarded 18 silver and four gold awards by the NFVF in 1999.

 

His contribution to Deadtime earned him recognition as one of the best young upcoming creatives by Y Magazine in 2001.

 

With several awarded Short Films under his belt, Fezile left the film world to pursue a business opportunity as the Regional Manager of Studio Blue Group of companies, a high-end interior décor and design retailer in SA.

 

After successfully managing Studio Blue, Fezile decided to follow his passion and moved to the advertising industry to develop new skills and pursue other opportunities.

 

After graduating with merit from the international AAA School of Advertising in 2004, Fezile was gainfully employed by DRAFT-FCB Cape Town advertising agency's senior creative department as a Copywriter. This is where he worked on major Distell accounts such as:

  • Savanna

  • Viceroy

  • Viceroy Premium Brandy

  • Richelieu Brandy

  • Klipdrift Premium Brandy

  • Momentum

  • Vodacom

  • Parmalat

  • Shoprite.

After spending two years at DRAFT-FCB Cape Town, Fezile was poached by Saatchi & Saatchi Advertising Agency's senior creative department as a Conceptual Senior Copywriter.

 

Fezile was instrumental in successfully retaining the Engen account at Saatchi & Saatchi for a further 3 years when the lucrative business went out to pitch after 12 years of it being in the same company.

His other notable achievements at the Saatchi & Saatchi stable includes the success of major accounts within the Diageo stable like:

  • Guinness

  • Malta Guinness

  • Guinness Quench throughout the African continent.

Fezile later joined Underline Advertising agency where he worked for four years as a Senior Conceptual Copywriter on:

  • MultiChoice's DStv

  • GOtv accounts throughout Africa

  • JMC

  • Goldcrest

  • City Property 

  • Forbes Africa Magazine.

Fezile took Underline Advertising agency to the industry's prestigious Loerie Awards and PromaxBDA Africa Awards for the first time in 24 years. He was featured on Screen Africa Magazine.

​

In 2022 Fezile joined The Old Shanghai Firecracker Factory as a Senior Conceptual Copywriter for almost a year.

 

Fezile's life experience and groundbreaking ideas allows him to be adaptable and be ever evolving when dealing with new challenges.
